La colección bibliográfica de los Centros de Documentación en Salud (CDS) debe cumplir con ciertos requisitos, la evaluación permite conocer aspectos tanto cuantitativos como cualitativos para determinar las verdaderas necesidades del público usuario y valorar adecuadamente a la biblioteca como «un organismo vivo, en permanente transformación». Se evaluó la colección completa de material bibliográfico del centro del Hospital General de Zona No. 98 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social según su frecuencia de uso y estado físico de los libros durante el 2005

The bibliographical collection at the Health Documentation Center (CDS) should comply with certain requirements, the evaluation permits one to know both quantitative and qualitative aspects to determine the true needs of the public user and to adequately assess the library as «a living organism in constant transformation». The complete collection of bibliographical material available at the CDS of the General Hospital in Zone No. 98 of the Mexican Institute for Social Security (IMSS) was evaluated according to its frequency of use and physical state of the books throughout the year 2005.
