Se presenta la secuencia en que se manifiestan las etapas del fenómeno bibliotecario en Cuba, así como una ejemplificación de su desarrollo sujeto a la ley. Se ofrece también una síntesis de lo ocurrido en el país en lo referente a la legislación bibliotecaria y las asociaciones profesionales, haciendo referencia a obras donde el lector puede encontrar información sobre el origen y evolución de las bibliotecas cubanas, la literatura bibliotecológica, la formación profesional y las investigaciones bibliotecológicas. Se ofrece finalmente un panorama de las concepciones teóricas de la bibliotecología que han estado presentes significativamente en el país hasta principios del siglo XXI, incluida la teoría bibliológico-informativa propuesta por este autor

It is given the sequence in which the different periods of the librarian phenomenon in Cuba are manifested, as well as an exemplification of its development, which have been according to the correspondent law. Is also given a synthesis of what have occurred in the country regarding the librarian legislation and professionals associations, also is made a reference about the papers that can be consulted by any user, where can be found information in relation with the origin and evolution of the Cuban libraries, literature about library science, professional preparation and research in library science. Finally is given a panorama of the theoretical concepts regarding library science, that have had a significant presence in the country up to the beginning of the XXI century, including the library-information theory proposed by this author.
