Seconcluye afirmando que elbibliotecólogo,documentalista o profesional dela información esel estudioso destinado enrigoraejercerlastareas y establecerlosprogramasde evaluaciónde los contenidoscientíficos.

The article attempts to establish the relations existing between the concept of the evaluation of science and the field of Library Science and Documentation based on the definition and aims of this discipline. It also tries to establish links with science, especially with respect to the more specific functions attributable to Library Science/Documentation such as production function, communication function and evaluation function. The extent to which all phases of the research process can be objects of evaluation by the discipline of Library Science with the help of certain methods, especially bibliometrics: author, subject, sources, scientific message, the repercussions of this in the user, and the technology employed in the investigation, is observed. The article concludes by affirming that the library specialist, documentalist or information professional is the obvious choice of scholar for carrying out these tasks and establishing programs for the evaluation of scientific contents.
